Operation Safety Net (OSN) is a health care outreach program housed at Mercy Hospital for the street homeless population in the Pittsburgh area.
Pitt Med OSN is a student led organization is associated with OSN that aims to:
o Promote awareness of the importance of providing healthcare to the underserved,
o Provide a venue for medical students to volunteer in the community, especially with the homeless population of Pittsburgh.
Working closely with OSN, Pitt Med OSN is able to:
o Arrange Educational Meetings concerning the homeless population of Pittsburgh
o Schedule medical students for Van/Street rounds with OSN staff and volunteers
o Assist with the Severe Weather Shelter at Smithfield United Church during inclement weather.
