Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity was founded in 1904 at the Cornell University Medical School. Since that time the fraternity has grown to 33 medical school chapters, 38 graduate clubs, and over 21,000 physician members nationally.

Nu Chapter at Pitt functions as a social group in addition to holding professional meetings with guest speaker appearances. The group includes male, female, single, and married members who share a common desire to serve their community and enjoy fellowship while striving for excellence in their medical school education. Membership is open to all medical students, and the group offers educational, cultural and recreational experiences, plus the advantages of an affiliation with a large national medical organization.

Past events have included volunteering with Special Olympics, ice skating, bowling and sky-diving for charity. Additional benefits include an association with the large Pittsburgh Phi Delta Epsilon Graduate Club and its many physician members and a low interest loan foundation sponsored by the national fraternity. But the greatest benefit is the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with other students outside the confines of school.
